How To Properly Secure Your Child Into A Car Booster Seat
Keeping your children safe while in your car is of the utmost importance to just about every parent out there. This is why it is important that your child is secure inside a child safety seat. Securing your child properly will keep your precious cargo safe just in case anything unfortunate should ever happen. I would like to discuss how to go about making sure that your child is safely secured inside their child safety seat.
Place booster seat in car
When you place the booster seat in your vehicle you want to make sure that you place the booster seat in the proper place. The booster seat should always be placed in the back seat and should never, under any circumstances, be placed up front. You do not want to put the booster seat in the middle of the back seat either. Instead, you want to make sure that the booster seat is placed on either side of the back seat.
Place child in seat properly
When securing your child in their booster seat, you want to make sure that they are in their seat correctly. They should be sitting upright with their back firmly against the back seat. You do not want them slouched over when you try to put their seat belt around them. This will cause more problems than solutions.
Buckle them in
It is now time to buckle your child in. You want to make sure that you place the seat belt around your child’s waist. This is why they need to be sitting up straight. If they are not sitting up straight, then the seatbelt could actually end up higher on their body and this would not be as safe as if it were around their waist. You then want to make sure to adjust the seat belt so that it fits around their body nice and snug. A loose seat belt is not going to be nearly as effective as one that is snug.
Don’t forget the shoulder belt
Many kids do not like the shoulder belt because it feels uncomfortable to them. This will cause them to try and avoid putting the shoulder belt across their body. You need to make sure that the shoulder belt is put around their body correctly. The seat belt is not nearly as effective if the shoulder belt is not used correctly.
Make sure the buckle is secure
Once you have buckled your child into their seat, you now want to make sure that their buckle is secure. You want to pull forcefully on the buckle to make sure that it is in there properly. It is very easy to buckle a seat belt only to realize that it was never completely buckled to begin with. Make sure that you always check to make sure the buckle is secured properly and will not come unbuckled with little effort.
